I don't have a problem with genning mons for comp, as with how fast the meta changes doing things legit is extremely time consuming, but with how easy it is to generate something that's indistinguishable from the real thing I'm not exactly shedding tears over those who do get busted. There's no practical advantage to having a mon like this, but it's still cheating under the rules, and the TOs aren't going to give an exemption just because you don't have a gameplay advantage. Most people who get bopped for hacking in a tournament usually get busted for the lower level stuff, having a mon that is legit under the rules of the game but was obviously edited or genned due to missing/wrong info. With the Switch generation also comes stuff like the Home tracker ID, which is used to track the movement of a mon from game to game, and can also be used to see if a mon was genned, as an example, something like Enamorus must have one if it's in SV, since currently its only obtainable in Legends and must be transferred via Home as a result.

Generally, there's two levels of check, the high level one, which checks for illegal game stuff, like illegal moves or abilities, or having over 510 EVs, and a low level one looking at other characteristics that don't have an impact on gameplay but can be used to detect for hacks.
